Product Description

To all rugged types with an older winch setup:  Ever shredded your hands on the barbs of a steel cable?  Heard the stories of injuries and deaths from steel cables that snapped?  Ever grown tired of handling that awkward and heavy steel winchline?  For you, my friend (and actually for anyone else), it's time to make the switch to synthetic.  Consider the reasons that synthetic rope is superior to steel:

  • More flexible and easier to handle
  • Lighter to carry by 20 or 30 pounds
  • No more sharp barbs that shred your hands
  • Minimizes your risk because:
    • Tends to drop to the ground if it snaps as opposed to the violent whipping action and unpredictable trajectory so common to steel cable
    • Twenty to thirty pounds lighter weight makes for a lower kinetic energy being released if it ever does snap
    • Incapable of inflicting lacerations like steel cable can
    • Greater minimum breaking strength than steel cable of equal diameter, so it's likelihood of breaking is far less in a comparison of straight breaking strengths
  • Wears better than steel cable which has a tendency to hold the curved shape of the drum and also deteriorate in strength from bending back and forth over time
  • Floats on water
  • Able to take a beating from the weather.  These ropes with a Dyneema material were originally designed to endure the harsh marine weather conditions of industrial fishing applications
Select from two colors (orange vs. black), two common winch lengths (80' vs. 100'), and two types of hardware that can be installed on the winchline (tube thimble and hook vs. safety thimble)
NOTE:  Synthetic winchlines will snap readily when mistreated and allowed to rub or scrape deliberately or inadvertantly over rough or sharp objects.  Follow your installation instructions extremely carefully allowing at least a minimum 1/4" gap between the opening of your bumper and the opening of your fairlead.  Also avoid rubbing against trees, rocks, or other sharp/rough objects.
