For truck owners that have a winch, this rigging line will nicely round out your recovery kit, doubling over as both a tree saver and a winchilne extension.
There is a commonly-held belief in the off roading community that tree straps and recovery straps are a fundamental piece of equipment required to make any recovery kit complete. The folks at Viking have a different perspective.
This Viking Rigging line was born from creativity and resourcefulness. In an effort to make use of scrap rope, co-founder Jon Jonsson figured he'd run a protective guard the length of a 10-foot rope and use it just like a tree saver/tree strap. At the core lie the regular old static Dyneema fibers that comprise Amsteel Blue. Its static properties allow it to double over as both a tree saver and a winchline extension. It's easier to carry because it's lighter, easier to handle because it's more flexible, and easier to store because it takes up far less space. Its breaking strength is lower than that of your average tree strap, but the difference is irrelevant because tree straps are deliberately rated at a breaking strength far greater than they snould be used. The stretch pollyester that straps are typically made of stretch a bit, so they need a greater breaking strength to prevent them from stretching since they are used for static rather than kinetic energy recoveries.
